Last week, KBC Health & Safety had the privilege of partnering with FUCHS LUBRICANTS SOUTH AFRICA for their annual Safety Day, themed around the launch company’s Golden Rules of Safety: Personal Ownership, PPE Compliance, and Safe Driving & Moving Machinery. It was a celebration of their Zero Harm achievement in 2025.
The day focused on reinforcing a simple but powerful message: Safety Starts with Me. Every Task. Every Time. Through interactive engagement, meaningful conversations, and practical activities, employees were encouraged to take personal accountability for creating a safer workplace and looking out for one another.
A highlight of the day was an inspiring presentation by our former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper and Riski Diski ambassador, Andre Arendse. Drawing on lessons from his remarkable football journey, Andre shared insights on resilience, teamwork, personal responsibility, overcoming setbacks, and the importance of the legacy we leave behind. Using soccer as a powerful analogy for workplace safety, he demonstrated how every individual plays a critical role in achieving the team’s ultimate goal: Zero Harm.
The learning experience was further brought to life through a series of interactive foosball-based gamification activities. Participants worked through safety scenarios linked to hazard identification, risk assessments, PPE compliance, controls, and the Swiss Cheese Model of accident prevention. The activities encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and practical application of key safety principles before culminating in some friendly competition and plenty of enthusiasm.
At KBC, we believe that lasting behavioural change happens when learning is engaging, relevant, and memorable. It was fantastic to see the FUCHS team embracing the day’s message and demonstrating their commitment to making safety a personal responsibility.
One Team. One Goal. Zero Harm.
